Messy Mya Death Photo Biography
Source:- Google.com.pkAnthony “Messy Mya” Barre Wildly popular New Orleans comedian and bounce artist Anthony “Messy Mya” Barre was laid to rest today. Barre was also known by the nickname “Coo” and was a beloved figure on the bounce scene. He was the grandson of Stan “Pampy” Barre, a former New Orleans politician.
Barre was also a You Tube and local entertainment sensation with a seemingly bright future and by all accounts, he was looking forward to the birth of his son. Like so many other young men in New Orleans, Messy Mya’s life was cut short by a senseless shooting on North Rocheblave in New Orleans’ Seventh Ward. In the minutes following the murder, the internet was flooded with news of Barre’s death. In an even more sickening turn of events, at least one individual posted a picture of the crime scene on Twitter.
New Orleans police spent a good portion of the week developing the case and were able to identify a suspect, despite the usual claims that no one saw what happened.
Jefferson Parish authorities arrested 24-year old Jason Baptiste Hamilton this morning at West Jefferson Medical Center, after receiving a call that the wanted man was at the facility seeking medical treatment. Hamilton was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and is expected to be transferred to Orleans Parish for booking on the murder charge. Police have not yet released a motive.
As friends and family of Barre ceremonially laid him to rest, they called on the public to stop the violence that has plagued New Orleans for far too long. Barre was known for his wild antics that were most often captured on video and posted on the internet for the world to view.
He was known to ambush attendees of his show and insult their hair, clothing and any other item that might garner a laugh, in a routine he called “booking”. He would often hurl his insult and finish it off with the words, “Now, who gonna pop me?” This was almost prophetic as to his demise.
While the sheer shock value of his routine was well known, Barre was also becoming a popular bounce artist who was often billed on the same ticket with Sissy Nobby and other similar artists.
Barre will be truly missed. His flamboyance and outspoken attitude will be difficult to duplicate. Prayers go out to his friends and family. Let this be a lesson, New Orleans. The time for such senseless violence is up. We have to do better.
A prelimary trial date has been ordered for the New Orleans man accused of fatally shooting internet sensation Messy Mya. Twenty-four-year-old Jason Baptiste Hamilton is being held in lieu of $300,000 bond at the Orleans Parish Prison, records show. Hamilton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 13.
Hamilton is accused of the November 14 slaying of 22-year-old Anthony M. Barre who became an internet celebrity as the acid-tongued comedian and "sissy bounce rapper" Messy Mya. Barre was gunned down while getting into his car in the 7th Ward. A photo of Barre's blood-splattered body—"and someone [holding] a cell phone just inches from his face—went viral across the internet only moments after his death. "Sissy bounce" refers to gay, transgender, lesbian or bisexual rappers who perform New Orleans’ signature hip-hop style known as "bounce."
Days after Barre's murder, Hamilton reportedly threatened to kill a student at Delgado Community College and boasted about having murdered Messy Mya, reports the Times Picayune.
Three days after Barre's death, Hamilton went to Delgado's campus at 615 City Park Ave. and approached a woman enrolled in classes. He allegedly threatened to shoot and kill her because she refused to shake his hand. He then allegedly told her that he had just killed Messy Mya.
Both campus police and city homicide detectives were called to investigate. A campus police officer stopped Hamilton and performed a routine check for outstanding arrest warrants. When the campus officer found none, she escorted Hamilton off campus. Meanwhile, homicide detective Kevin Burns met the student whose life was threatened. The student told Burns there was video of her encounter with Hamilton. Burns viewed the footage and noted that Hamilton's appearance was similar to a description of the gunman in Barre's slaying that was provided to investigators by eyewitnesses. Court filings do not specify the type of device that captured the video.
Hamilton was arrested on November 20 after visiting a hospital in neighboring Jefferson Parish. Hamilton's mother is quoted as saying that he was bipolar and had previously taken the anti-psychotic prescription medication Risperdal.Authorities have not offered a motive for Barre's murder. If convicted of second-degree murder, Hamilton faces a mandatory life sentence in prison.
